Finance & financial support

Course fees don’t apply to courses for students aged 16-18.

For Adult 19+ and HE courses, fees are shown on course-specific pages.

Course fees don’t apply to courses for students aged 16-18.

Your employer or sponsor may pay for your course.

We also offer a number of free online and blended learning courses.

Dependent upon your circumstances, you may qualify for financial support. Read more about the support available, who qualifies, and who to contact, here.

If your course’s tuition fee is over £299, you can spread the cost over four equal payments.

Read more about payments here.

There are different types of financial support available to students. Read more about them and access relevant factsheets here.

To be eligible for a bursary (grant) you will need to show evidence that your household income is below £25,000 (or that you are in care or a care leaver if you’re aged 16-19). Other factors such as how far away from college you live will also be taken into account.

A bursary is a financial grant to help with the costs of living as a student.

Whether you qualify for a bursary or not depends on circumstances such as your household income and how far away from college you live.

You can read more about bursaries and whether you qualify on the Financial support page, and via its linked factsheet.

To apply for a bursary you should collect an application form from the Student Financial Support team on Advice Street at the Rush Green campus, or from the Administration Office if you’re studying at the Barking campus.

Complete the form and hand it in – with required supporting evidence (stated on the form) – to the Student Financial Support team.

Please allow 15-20 working days following your application for a decision letter to arrive. It will be sent to the home address you provided during enrolment.

Receipt of your bursary funding does not affect the receipt of means-tested benefits paid to families such as Income Support, Jobseeker’s Allowance, Child Benefit, Working Tax Credit and Housing Benefit.

However, if a student is in receipt of Disability Living Allowance (or Personal Independence Payments) and Employment Support Allowance – or in receipt of Universal Credit – parents can no longer receive certain household/family benefits for that child, such as child benefit. For more information please check with your benefits agency.

Payments are usually made by monthly BACS deposit into your bank account.

Some payments, such as equipment expenses, may be paid directly to your curriculum area.

If your application for financial support was approved but you haven’t received a payment, check your attendance record with tutors to ensure this isn’t preventing payment.

If your attendance hasn’t been an issue, contact our Financial Support team on 0203 667 0050.
